Let me let you in on a little secret.
I love mornings.
I’ve always been an early morning kind of gal. What can I say, I’m a natural riser!
Being a morning person has enhanced my life in so many ways. I get to the gym earlier, I have more hours to work on my business, and back before I dropped out of college I had way more hours to cram in last minute homework assignments. So needless to say, mornings are the shit.
But I know lots of you don’t feel the same…
This lovingly includes my boyfriend Eric and my best friend Cassie. If you’re reading this… love you, but you need to hop on the morning person train.
Let me tell you why I’m such a big fan of mornings.
IT GIVES YOU MORE HOURS IN YOUR DAY
Idk about you, but more hours in a day sounds PERFECT to me. Why? Well because you can get more shit done. If you’re constantly waking up only an hour or two before you first “task” of the day (aka school or work) then you’re really ripping yourself off. Your morning is literally spent getting ready to work all day. That’s a definite no for me. So instead of spending your mornings working on getting ready for work do something good for your body or your business. For me, this is my time to get my body moving!
I start every single day with a 30-minute incline walk while I indulge in my favourite Netflix series. (At the moment I’m SUPER obsessed with Greenleaf, Star, and Dynasty!) Not only am I starting my day off with some positive vibes and movement in my body, I’m literally watching tv. If there’s a multitasking award I’ll take that now, please.
IT HELPS INCREASE YOUR GRADES
Oh yeah, you read that right. A study done by Texas University showed that students who identify themselves as “morning people” earned a full grade point higher than those who identified themselves as night owls.
While obviously, you have to still put in the work, I found when I had 8 am classes in my first year I did a LOT better than when I didn’t have 8 am classes in my second year. I know the 8 am grind can really be a struggle… but hey, it pays off in the end.
YOU’RE HELLA PRODUCTIVE
I know this from first-hand experience. There has been absolutely no day in my life where I’ve been more productive in the evening than I have been in the morning. The rise and grind is just too real my friends. There have been multiple studies all about how you’re way more productive in the morning. So why not harness that productivity and work on your side hustle? Let me give you a real-world example…
I’m sitting here, it’s 8:02 p.m. on a Friday night, and it’s taking me two hours to write this blog post. Legit. The word count is currently 400 words. Isn’t that insane? On the other hand… if I would have written this post at 9 a.m. this morning I would have banged the whole thing out in 30 minutes or less. So I freaking SWEAR by mornings, they’re totally my secret sauce.
So that’s it my friends. Exactly why I freaking love mornings. I know that sometimes it can be hard to switch up your routine. I know when I started getting back into the routine of waking up at 6:00 a.m. every single day it was like experiencing death. Okay, that was a little dramatic… but that’s how it felt. But the key here is to just keep doing it every single day. Eventually, it’ll just become a habit. And then you’ll develop a seriously awesome morning routine that will make you excited every single time you wake up!
