What is up you guys! Welcome back to another post here on K Is For Karly. Canada Day is literally tomorrow and for those of you who don’t know – surprise I’m Canadian! These low carb alcoholic drinks and absolutely delicious and since Independence Day isn’t that far away you can add these to your arsenal! There is tons of things to do for Canada Day but let’s be real – a lot of you are probably going to drink. But it’s kind of hard when you’re watching your carbs! So today I partnered up with David’s Tea to bring you…
3 Low Calorie Low Carb Alcoholic Drinks For Canada Day
PS – The people over at David’s Tea were so absolutely nice there may or may not be a Canada and US wide giveaway 😉 I know you’re all dying to try out these low calorie, low carb alcoholic drinks so let’s jump right in!
Okay, I don’t know about you but a mojito on a hot day really hits the spot. It’s light with the perfect amount of minty freshness. But also it contains tons of sugar and carbs. We can’t have that right people? Cue the tea! Raspberry Mojito is a blend of apple, raisins, hibiscus blossoms, carrot, beetroot, peppermint, lime, raspberries, rose petals, natural & artificial flavouring. Does that not make you want to drink like twelve of these already?
The description of this tea couldn’t be more accurate. I’m normally not a huge fruit tea fan but raspberry will forever have my heart! Pure heaven is absolutely correct. Here’s how we turned it into the ultimate summer drink.
1. Brew Your Tea
Time to break out your perfect spoons! For this tea you’ll need to brew 1-2 perfect spoons per 16oz of near boiling water for 4-7 minutes. This tea turns a beautiful rose pink colour so it’s almost like you’re still getting the look a regular mojito with it’s fake raspberry sugar syrup.
If you’re a pitcher person and you’ve got the absolute amazing Iced Tea Pitcher Press here’s how you brew! Add 4-6 perfect spoons in the outer layer of your pitcher press, add your near boiling water and steep for 10 minutes. Add your ice to the inner layer and squish them together. TA-DA! The perfect pitcher of iced tea you ever did see. (Or use this adorable single serve for the perfect cup of tea!)
2. Prep Your Sweets
Okay, let’s admit it. Alcohol without sugar can actually be really gross. But what is out there that’s no or low carb? The answer is TONS! My main fave being Stevia. It’s no carb, no calorie, no real sugar. And honestly it’s awesome. Simple syrup is a key part in a lot of drinks and we’re about to make our own low carb low cal version.
Grab yourself 8 oz of boiling water and a bag of Stevia. This is honestly very simple but it’s a great substitute for real sugar. I just keep adding in stevia to the water until it can’t dissolve anymore. BAM. Low cal low carb simple syrup.
3. Did Someone Say Alcohol?
The time is upon us friends. We’re adding alcohol. For this we decided to stick with the traditional white rum for a mojito! We grabbed some Bacardi White Rum and got to work!
If you’re pouring a single serve of this raspberry mojito add one shot to your 8oz glass of tea. From there you can add however much simple syrup as your like for sweetness. Add ice and garnish it with some fresh raspberries and BAM – a raspberry mojito! A perfect drink to add to your low calorie low carb alcoholic drinks collection.
If you’re making it in a pitcher press add about 7 shots of rum. The Pitcher Press holds 60oz of liquid so don’t freak out too much over that number! Add your simple syrup to taste, add your fresh raspberries and you’re good to go! A delicious drink to share with friends!

2. Sparkling Sangria
Okay who can resist sangria? I know when I go out and see Sangria on a menu in pitcher size I have to order it. It’s about the value right? No? Okay. So when David’s Tea sent me the Sparkling Sangria tea I was over the moon! There’s nothing better than having sangria’s with the gals on a patio during the summer, so here’s how to do it low cal and low carb! Sparkling Sangria is a blend of apple, papaya, ago, pineapple, hibiscus, blue cornflowers, rose petals, and artificial flavouring.
Just add wine is right. What I especially love about this tea is that it has all of the fruits that go into a sangria in it! That means you don’t actually have to spend your time peeling and slicing lemons and oranges forever and ever. Here’s how we made it into one of our delicious low calorie low carb alcoholic drinks!
1. Brew Your Tea
Same as before it’s time to grab our perfect spoons. PS – DT has an amazing collection of summer perfect spoons that are to die for! For this guy you’ll be brewing 1-2 perfect spoons in near boiling water for 4-7 minutes.
If you’re using a Pitcher Press same goes as raspberry mojito! 4-6 perfect spoons in near boiling water, steep 10 minutes, add your ice, enjoy! (For this pitcher press recipes we added 30 oz of water to the press to leave room for other liquids!)
2. Let’s Get It On
Because we’ve already prepped our simple syrup let’s move right into the alcohol! We used Jacob’s Creek Merlot for the alcohol in this drink! It’s considerably low calorie and low carb! We also decided to spice things up with some soda water! What’s really important to note here is that we used SODA water and not tonic water. Tonic water contains tons of carbs and sugar whereas soda water does not.
For a single serve sangria we added 4 oz of wine and 2 oz of soda water. You can add your simple syrup to taste. ( PS – a single serve of this sangria might require a larger than normal glass!)
For our pitcher friends we added 20 oz of wine to our pitcher press and 5 oz of soda water, we added simple syrup as needed and it was DELICIOUS!

3. Sour Appletini
Vodka will forever be my favourite alcohol! I know some of you are cringing right now. I know, we all have one of those. But seriously though you can add vodka to anything and it’s going to be good. That’s why adding this sour appletini to our low calorie low carb alcoholic drinks menus was a MUST. Sour Appletini has apple, beetroot, blackberry leaves, and artificial apple flavouring.
Okay so maybe my version is not an anytime, anywhere sort of deal. But it’s still DELICIOUS! I can totally see myself hosting a classy girls soiree and bringing out these bad boys. At the same time I’d be winning hostess with the most-ess points with my low calorie low carb alcoholic drinks. Here’s how we made them!
1. Brew Your Tea
By now I really hope we know how to brew tea. Break out those perfect spoons it’s time to go to work. Brew 1-2 perfect spoons in near boiling water for 4-7 minutes! Wait hold on let’s spice things up. David’s Tea also sent me this beautiful clear steeper! Ever since I saw these come out I’ve been a fan. The bottom releases the tea, is that not the coolest thing you’ve ever seen? We popped out your appletini in our clear steeper and set a timer! After that I drained it into my also cute and clear mug from DT!
If you’re making a pitcher steep 4-6 perfect spoons in near boiling water for 10 minutes. Add ice to your inner layer, squish, and enjoy!
2. Did Someone Say Vodka
Now it’s the best part – adding your vodka. I am a die hard forever fan of Absolut. If we’re being honest here we know vodka doesn’t actually taste great but this one goes down so much smoother than most other vodkas I’ve come across.
For a single single we added a 1 oz shot per 8 oz drink. (PS – the steeper makes 16 oz! That’s a fancy drink for you and a friend with minimal cleanup!) From there add your simple syrup to taste.
For a pitcher we added seven 1 oz shots to the pitcher. Again, the Pitcher Press holds 60oz of liquid! So don’t be too shocked! Add your syrup as you see fit.
