Hey guys what is UP! I know it’s been a minute since I’ve come to you with a blog. However, I’ve been ridiculously busy. Besides being in school during the summer I also do promotional work on top of my regular job. Recently I worked 12 days in a row of non stop interactions. Needless to say, ya gurl is tired. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to neglect you! Fortunately during my drives to wherever I was working I listened to some pretty awesome Girlboss audio books. And today I thought I’d share them with all of you. So let’s jump in!
3 GIRLBOSS AUDIO BOOKS TO LISTEN TO THIS MONTH
For those of you that read my Why You Need To Start Listening To Audio Books Right Now post you’d know I’m obsessed with Audible. I love that you get to actually keep the book no matter if you cancel your account or not. But honestly, I don’t see myself cancelling anytime soon. Here’s 3 amazing books I listened to on Audible last month. I loved them and I know your inner Girlboss is going to love them too.
1. She Means Business: Turn Your Ideas Into Reality And Become A Wildly Successful Entrepreneur by Carrie Green
Okay, long title I know. BUT SO WORHT IT. I learned so much from this audio book and you’ll actually get to see the result of that soon. From online marketing to branding and more Carrie filled my head with so much valuable knowledge. Full disclosure I listened to this book while doing a SUPER boring promo at Costco. I had to stand there for twelve hours so needless to say I listened to almost all of the book. I wrote down pages and pages of notes and I reference back to them almost every day.
Carrie is not only wicked smart she’s incredibly funny (and English!) too. Listening to her audio book is like talking to another business person who’s DYING to help you out and see you succeed. She even has a matching online component to the book filled with worksheets and printables so you can really get the most out of the book. Carrie Green is an ultimate Girlboss and I would HIGHLY recommend listening to She Means Business. If you’re just starting out in your creative business or you’re a vet in the field. Listen to this book to shake up your way of thinking and come back FULL FORCE with some amazing ideas. I truly attribute any of the success I have for this month to this book. I’m giving it an absolutely deserved 10/10.
2. Rich Bitch: A 12 Step Plan For Getting Your Financial Life Together… Finally by Nicole Lapin
I’ve listened to this book twice and just recently bought the actual book. Like hard cover and everything. Because I absolutely LOVE it. Much like Carrie, Nicole Lapin is the ULTIMATE Girlboss and goal grinder. I’m going to be honest, I’m really not great with my finances and it sucks. I hate feeling constantly stressed about it and I truly need to get a handle on them. Cue Nicole Lapin. She’s the money mentor BFF you never knew you needed. Everything she says actually makes sense without giant “financial” jargon. Want you improve your credit score? Nicole’s got you. Want to finance a house? Nicole’s got you too. I’ve learned so much from this book but my true downfall is execution. But they say third time is the charm right?I’m in the process of reading the actual book again and I couldn’t be more excited.
Let me also just say Nicole loves to swear. A lot. And I’m totally okay with that. By not covering up who she is for the sake of the audio book I feel like I connected with her so much more. It’s way easier to take money advice from a real boss chick that it is from a fake one, right? Rich Bitch is an amazing book and I’d highly recommend it to every single one of you. The only problem I have with it was obviously I’m Canadian. So we don’t have 401K’s and other things the US has and it works a little differently here. I wish there was a bit more insight on the Canadian side but hey, how can you blame her. She lives in the US after all. I’d give this book a 9.5/10.
3. Boss Bitch: A Simple 12-Step Plan To Take Charge Of Your Career by Nicole Lapin
Not going to lie, might have a bit of a love affair with Nicole’s books. This guy is the brand new book she just put out and it couldn’t have come at a better time. I started listening to this book right after I finished She Means Business and it’s be strongly fuelling my fire. Like I said before, everything Nicole says just makes sense. She breaks it down in easy to understand but effective terms and I absorb literally everything. Forms the importance of thank-you notes to not being the bitch who says sorry all the time Lapin is back with some bad ass advice on your business.
I’m actually only halfway through this audio book but I’m LOVING it. She shares her real life experiences on her climb to the top and let me tell you it’s inspiring. I honestly wish I would have taken more notes throughout listening to the book so far and I may even go back and restart the book. I think it’s so important to get your ideas down while listening to audio books. Because let’s be real, how annoying is it to rewind to the EXACT spot you were thinking of. Especially if you don’t bookmark it? Girl good luck. The second round of Girlboss Nicole Lapin’s book is also a MUST on your reading list. For only listening to about half of the book at the moment I’d give it a 8/10.
